The Egyptian Social Innovation Cluster is an EU funded project through the Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Programme affiliated to the Ministry of Scientific Research to empower the Bottom of the Pyramid (BoP) through social innovation. The project was awarded in 2014 to a consortium led by Misr Elkheir Foundation, and in partnership with the German University in Cairo (GUC), Assiut University, Azhar University, the Egyptian Center for the Advancement of Science,Technology & Innovation (ECASTI), Hubconcepts (Finland), and Bdix (Netherlands). Each partner had a major role in developing, managing, and sustaining the cluster with the aim to empower the BoP through social innovation and establish the Social Innovation Cluster, which has been expanded by adding new members: ASHOKA, Nahdet Elmahrousa and Alashanek Ya Balady (AYB).
The cluster is a result of a group work. Many partners contributed to the rise of the Social Innovation Cluster in Egypt; below is the list of our partners
